Just talking about them

Late afternoon on Hood Canal.  I met this man as he was packing up at the end of a day crabbing.  Though he carried a crab net on this particular day, he said he preferred fishing.  Catfish. Bass.  In Washington?  Not so much.  That was back when he lived in the Midwest.  His favorite fish were along the Mississippi.  Washington’s known for salmon, he said, and he doesn’t enjoy salmon fishing as much.  So crabbing it is.  At least most of the time.  He told me about some of the rivers and lakes where the fishing was good.  Some were on Hood Canal; some east of the Cascades, some more than a thousand miles away.  His face lit up just talking about them.
