Supervising the graze

You shouldn’t stand between a large animal and his food.  Apparently you sit in it.  That’s where I found this stable worker shortly after Zach, a beautiful Belgian draft horse, returned to his stall in the Puyallup Fair horse barn.  The man was keeping his equine charge company at meal time and both of them appeared quite content, although it was clear by the horse’s focus that the best grass was on the left side of the trough — underneath the human.  The man cares for several draft horses back at the ranch; six came to the fair with him.  I was told, by the way, that Zach is more than 19 hands tall.  Huge.
