Inside the fireman’s studio

I met him talking to someone on the grassy lawn of the Mural Amphitheater at Seattle Center.  When I asked to take his picture, he smiled and said “yes, let’s go to my studio!”  His “studio” was a sidewalk canopy on the perimeter of the lawn where, as a representative of the Seattle Fire Department at the Hispanic Seafair Festival, the Colombian-born fireman was doing outreach, promoting the fire department, and helping other people get their pictures taken.  The prop of choice, of course, was the big fire hose that he had brought along.  What kid wouldn’t want a picture of themselves brandishing a real fire hose?  But my photo would include the firefighter, not me.  He was up for it.
