She says working at a Commencement Bay marina is a very nice summer job. We set up this portrait as she slowly motored the rental boat back to its proper space in marina storage. When she was ready I walked down a nearby gangplank to be closer to sea level — her level — and took four photographs. Ten feet away she idled the engine just enough to hold the boat steady in place for me. Between the two of us — her on open water and me on the edge of a floating dock — we somehow managed to get some reasonably sharp photos. (Credit bright conditions and a fast shutter speed, too!) We talked on the pier for a few minutes more after she rinsed and stowed the boat. She said that her mom enjoys taking pictures of people, too. Yay, mom!
