Washington Olympic Medalists in London, 2012

Published by Steve Campion. Category: Sports & Recreation

Over the last few weeks, the city of London has hosted a very successful Olympics. And like a billion or more people around the world, we’ve been following them. But we’ve been following some athletes more closely than others: those who have a Washington connection. After posting our Washington athlete list last month, we’ve dutifully posted the competition schedule and results each day — medal or otherwise — on the WA-List home page.

Now that the games are over, we present the final tally: 5 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze. Our thirteen total medals pulled us even with Belarus, Kazakhstan, and New Zealand. Only 17 countries (the United States included) won more medals.  That’s not bad for a corner state!
