Party Central, State of Washington Edition

I dropped my ballot in the pickup box at my local library this afternoon.  There were no state or federal offices up for grabs this time, but I starting thinking ahead to the next general election when we’ll be choosing a president, governor, senator, congressmen, and most of the legislators again.  The voter’s guide in quadrennial years is always packed with more candidates than you ever see in the off-year elections and many of them hail from political parties that don’t make the 11:00 news.  What are all those parties about?

Today’s WA-List answers that question — at least it puts you in contact with them.  The list includes links to the websites of the eight political parties currently registered in the State of Washington and plucks out the addresses and phone numbers that were readily available therein.  But we didn’t want to just list the parties, so we ran the success tallies of each.  How many elected officials does each party currently have sitting at a state or federal desk?  We’ve got the numbers!  And it’s probably no surprise that there’s a whole lotta zeroes beyond the Democrats and Republicans.

P.S.  Just so we’re clear about this, WA-List does not endorse any candidate or political party. We’re nonpartisan in our hopeful skepticism.

SOURCE:  All contact information for this list was taken from each party’s official website.  Some websites had no mailing addresses or phone numbers that could be easily found on those pages at the time this list was assembled in early November, 2011.  The numbers of elected officials were gathered using the websites of the Secretary of State and the Washington State Legislature, and is accurate as of November, 2011.  One state senate seat is currently vacant due to the death in Cle Elum last month of Democrat Scott White of Seattle. He was 41.
